Ava was born and raised in San Diego, Ca. until her enlistment into the U.S. Marine Corps in 2010. Ava was medically retired after serving for almost nine years. She has traveled throughout the country and the world, and deployed to OEF Afghanistan. Ava incorporated yoga throughout her years in the Marines watching YouTube videos while she was abroad; however, in 2016 she was invited to Hot Yoga Healthy You by a friend. Yoga became an essential influence in her life from that first class, as it helped to re-strengthen her body, regain flexibility, and calm her mind through focused breathing and challenging postures. Ava is also currently pursuing her PhD in Forensic Psychology, with a specialization in Victimology, holds a YACEP 200-RYT Yoga Instructor certification obtained through Hot Yoga Healthy You, a YACEP Trauma-Informed Yoga Certification, and a YACEP Mindfulness Resilience for Trauma Certification from the Veterans Yoga Project. Ava intends to bring the healing properties of yoga to the sensitive population of veterans and survivors of trauma and abuse. Ava accredits both yoga and her horses for her mental and physical healing, renewed spirit, and happiness that would not have been possible elsewhere. Ava teaches Vinyasa, Hot Fusion, and Trauma-Sensitive classes. She encourages her students to challenge themselves with kindness, and to explore the deeper connection of the mind, body, and soul. "We are more than our experiences, traumas, and ailments, we are intellectual, physical, and spiritual beings that have endured countless trials to expand ourselves, build resilience, and in-turn, help others!"
