If It Is Your First Time

Please arrive 20 minutes prior to class for orientation. Advise the instructor of any medical conditions or physical restrictions. Arrive early and well hydrated. We view hydration as half your body weight in ounces of water, in the previous 24 hour period. It is best if meals are eaten no less than 2-3 hours prior to attending a class.

What Should I Expect?

Yoga is a “practice” that improves with every class, so stick with it. Do the best you can in the moment and do not compare yourself to others. Wear clothes that are light, comfortable, breathable and non-restrictive. The room is heated to 98 degrees to match your body temperature. Lobby opens 30 minutes prior to scheduled class, 15 minutes for earliest classes. If the door is locked that means we are sweating it out in the yoga room! All Classes begin promptly. We recommend that you arrive at least 10 minutes before class is scheduled to begin.

Purpose of Heat

Heat during yoga practice has numerous benefits. Heat allows for greater range of motion in joints, muscles, ligaments and other supporting structures of the body. Heat has a calming effect on the mind and boosts the body’s circulation. When the mind slows down and the heart rate picks up you have the perfect combination for a yoga practice.

Yoga Etiquette

"Within each of us, there is a silence, a silence as vast as the Universe, and when we experience that silence, we remember who we are”
- Author Unknown

Our goal is to create a sacred space of silence and meditation in the yoga room. A place to regroup, unwind and just BE. For some, it is the only silence they will experience their entire day, the only moment they can enjoy for themselves. Please honor silence before, during and after class while in the yoga room. We invite and encourage you to socialize and connect with friends and fellow yogis in our lobby.

Personal hygiene is an important aspect of personal well-being. Please come to class clean. Avoid wearing heavy perfumes or colognes and avoid using tobacco prior to coming to class. Strong odors in the heat can have an overwhelming and unpleasant effect on your neighbors in class, especially those with allergies and/or asthma.

How Often Should I Practice Yoga?

Like with most things, the more you practice the better you become. Having a consistent yoga practice will give you more results than if you were to come to class only once a week. When you practice yoga regularly your body will start to open up, your range of motion and flexibility can improve and your overall stress and anxiety levels will likely reduce. Increased metabolism and weight loss are also promoted with regular yoga practice. So, for the best results, both mental and physical, a consistent yoga practice of three to six classes a week is best.

A common occurrence with repetitive yoga practice is the gradual change from “needing” to go to yoga class to “wanting” to go to yoga class. Because yoga makes you feel so good during and after practice, people become somewhat addicted to everything that yoga does for them. The more you practice the more benefits you will receive.
